The Origins

Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is a ground fighting martial art focused on submissions. It's about controlling your opponent and finishing the fight with chokes and joint locks, not punches or kicks. What makes it special? Technique beats size. Creativity beats strength. A smaller person can submit someone twice their weight using leverage and strategy.

Born in Japan, improved in Brazil, and proven in the UFC when Royce Gracie shocked the world by submitting opponents twice his size.

That's when Eddie Bravo saw it and knew he could take it further.

The Revolution

In 1994, Eddie Bravo stripped away the gi and built a new system for No-Gi grappling. Rubber Guard. Lockdown. Truck. Leg locks. Positions that didn't exist before.

On May 17, 2003, he proved it worked. At the ADCC World Championships, Eddie submitted Royler Gracie, a legendary champion. A brown belt nobody knew just tapped a Gracie.

Eddie opened the first 10th Planet academy in Hollywood that same year. Today there are over 150 academies worldwide.

The Journey to Barcelona

Manu Perez was hungry for knowledge. He traveled the world studying Jiu Jitsu, searching for something different. That search led him to one of the oldest 10th Planet schools in Europe, where he moved and trained under Mick Broster, mastering the system that challenged everything traditional.

But Manu knew he had to bring this revolution home.

He returned to Barcelona with a vision: create a space with underdog energy, dark horse mentality, and anti-hero retrowave vibes. Barcelona's and Spain's martial arts landscape was stuck in outdated customs. It needed change. It needed someone willing to challenge the status quo.

In the heart of Gracia, Manu opened 10th Planet Barcelona (not just another academy, but a movement). A place where innovation beats tradition, where the underdog becomes the champion, where the system that once shocked the world now transforms the scene.
